the red block
format:
xhtml 1.0 strict, css, semi-fixed layout
images:
none
notes:
we like this one a lot. the link boxes resize to the size of the page, it's very light-weight and good-looking. the alternate version has the same look, but the text area carries a 4:3 aspect ratio - ideal for image galleries - with another set of page links on the left.
simple five
format:
xhtml 1.0 strict, css, fluid layout
images:

notes:
a nice elegant style, ideal for small sites with a lot to say.
college style
format:
xhtml 1.0 strict, css, fluid layout
images:
none
notes:
one of our more intensive designs, this is an example of a medium scale business site. we recommend that this is combined with a managed blog for minimal maintenance requirments. the banner is an animated gif, which can be seen here.....
stripes
format:
xhtml 1.0 strict, css, fluid layout
images:
none
notes:
another light site. the colours are our choice, but could easily wind up like the french flag.
blue skies training
format:
xhtml 1.0 strict, css, semi-fixed layout
images:
one large jpg banner
notes:
the banner image is quite heavy on this design. we did try it as an optimized gif, but lost far too much colour information doing it. drop shadows can be added to the headlines, but there are major browser compatabiliy issues - it won't break if the browser will not recognise the css, but photoshopping them in is safer.
the erewhon parish enquirer
format:
xhtml 1.0 transitional, css, fixed layout
images:
loads.
notes:
ok, this one is highly bandwidth-intensive, and really quite hard for the inexperienced to maintain. there is a simpler version which loses the font for the main text area, but it does not look as good.
